About Toti's Tavern

History of Toti's Tavern: A 90-Year Tradition of Hospitality and Spirits

A Humble Beginning

The story of Toti's Tavern began with Vincenzo "Jimmy" Toti, an Italian immigrant with a dream of creating a welcoming space where people could come together over good food and drink. In partnership with his wife, Emma DeAngelis Toti, Jimmy opened the doors to what would become a Burrillville institution.

Family Values and Community

The Toti family quickly established a warm and inviting atmosphere that made everyone feel like part of the family. Census records from 1940 reveal that Jimmy and Emma were not only business owners but also loving parents to three sons and a daughter named Dora who left her mark on Totis and the local community.

In 1959, Dora took the reins of the family business, along with her husband William Waterman. Dora's vibrant personality, confidence, and bold nature made her a beloved figure in the community. She was not only a successful businesswoman but also an active member of the Burrillville Republican Town Committee.

A Hub for Community Events

Toti's Tavern became more than just a place for food and drinks; it became a hub for community engagement. Over the years, the tavern hosted numerous events, from fundraisers for political candidates to election night results parties. Dora's passion for sports turned Toti's into a local hotspot for watching the big game.

Passing the Torch

Dora's dedication to the tavern continued for decades, earning her a special place in the hearts of Burrillville residents. Her legacy as the face of Toti's Tavern came to an end in 2021 when she passed away at the impressive age of 97.

Renewal and Continuation

Toti's Tavern reopened in March, preserving the cherished traditions that have defined it for generations. The reopening celebration on April 2 marked a new chapter in the tavern's history.

Carla Manni, Dora's niece, has taken the helm, infusing new energy and ideas into the establishment. With a fresh look and extended hours, Toti's Tavern continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. The menu now boasts delicious appetizers, and homemade italian cuisine.
